Is this when you try to login from the console only? I found that clients that use the xdmcp communications protocol sometimes have similar problems when the default language and font variables aren't set correctly.
Other than the files under your user directory's .dt directory, the /etc/dt/config/*, /usr/dt/config/*, and /var/dt/* (especially Xerrors) files can all give you clues as to what you may have going on behind the scenes.

Leon Workman

Hi everybody
I have just installed HP-UX. Everything seems ok, I get to the grafical screenshot where I put my login and my pass word, the blue copyright screen shows up and for a few secondes I get the gray screen with th X pointer, after this, it turns back to the grafical login screen.
I tryed to log in CDE writing from a consol startx 2>file just to see whitch are the errors I get. I found:
ngleDestrycolormap: Couldn't close Grm display object.

Can someone help me??
Thanks Sandro

Can't say I've ever seen that error. However, check what's in the /var/dt/Xerrors file.

Usually at this point, it's networking related (hostname not setup correctly type of thing).

Check this file /etc/X11/X0screens uncomment the line Screen /dev/crt0.
Also from /.dtprofile file uncomment the line DTSOURCEPROFILE=true. I hope you don't have ip address clash and you can telnet into the server.

Regds
