Using SAM to install printers

Hi Guys,
My Oracle Appl is running over a HP-UX 11.x. How can I configure my HP-UX to print on a Epson printer (DFX -5000+) attached on a Win/98 or win/2000 workstation? I??m trying SAM to performe this operation. Can anybody please help me (step by step)?.

Check out chapter 7 of this online book. It should probably give you most the info you are looking for.

Hi Craig, Thanks for your assistance, but I??m afraid I wouldn't like to use SAMBA for this operation. Somehow I think I could do that through SAM, printers/plotters, but I??m not successful.

hi Ricardo,

Follow these steps,

Install the TCP/IP printing service from the Network Services option in the Control Panel folder on Win NT.

Enable the TCP/IP printing service to start at every boot by changing the startup mode in the Services options in the Control Panel. Once this is done, any printer device that is configured and shared is automatically available from any remote TCP/IP host using LPR.

To print from HP-UX, setup a remote printer using SAM (System Administration Manager). The Remote System Name field refers to the NT server and the Remote Printer Name is the shared printer name. Make sure the BSD option on the hp side for the printer is enabled.
