Hi,

Can anyone explain about following errors, which I found in stm logs.

Error #1:
---------

SCSI Status...: CHECK CONDITION (0x02)
Indicates that a contingent allegiance condition has occurred. Any
error, exception, or abnormal condition that causes sense data to be
set will produce the CHECK CONDITION status.

Error #2:
--------

Sense Key 0x03, MEDIUM ERROR, indicates that the command terminated
with a nonrecovered error condition that was probably caused by a
flaw in the medium or an error in the recorded data. This sense key
may also be returned if the device is unable to distinguish between a
flaw in the medium and a specific hardware failure (sense key 0x04).

The combination of Additional Sense Code and Sense Qualifier (0x0C
0x02) indicates: Write error with failure of auto reallocation.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers...
Satish.

Hi Satish,

The error you mention looks incomplete the divce whic is causing is not know. But from the Error #2 you mention it becomes a little clear that the message is related to the tape drive. The "Medium error" has to do with the magnetic cartridge or DAT , the tape drive was not able to read the tape and hence it should have given this error. Probably replaceing the tape or cleaning the tape drive should help.

Good luck.
