If you are having Online JFS then only you can change it online. Otherwise you have to recreate the file system with "-o largfiles" option.

If you are having Online JFS you can give
fsadm -o largefiles <FILESYSTEM name="">

Sandip</FILESYSTEM>

Hi,

It's actually "fstyp", not "fstype".

fsadm /dev/vg##/rlvol# will tell you whether or not largefiles was set. You can also use fsadm to add largefile support.

man fsadm for more info. Also fsadm_hfs and fsadm_vxfs.

Darrell

From man fsadm_hfs:

Convert a nolargefiles HFS file system to a largefiles HFS file system:
fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vg02/rlvol1

largefiles Converts a nolargefiles file system to a largefiles file system. The file system should be unmounted and must be in a clean state (see fsck(1M)). A largefiles file system supports file sizes greater than 2 gigabytes.

Darrell

Hi,

First find out whether largefiels is enabled for your filesystem or not,

fsadm -F hfs /dev/vg_name/lv_name

If this returns "nolargefiles", to enable the largefiles option, unmount the filesystem and then do a fsadm,

fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /dev/vg_name/rlv_name

Do check the syntax for the fsadm command. Do a "man fsadm" for more help.

Hope this helps.

Regds

Ok, I should have known that from you post. I presume you umounted it first else you should have received a message that it was mounted.

I haven't seen the message you received before. A quick search of HP's web didn't find anything.

2 ideas:
-run fsck on the lv. Sounds as though it needs checking.
-could the filesystem still be full? I don't know if that would cause your error message.

Darrell

Instead of specifying the LV in the fsadm command try this:

# fsadm -F hfs -o largefiles /mount_dir

Where /mount_dir is the directory that the LV is mounted on.
