Assuming you have the software for LVM v2 loaded you can do a online upgrade with vxupgrade command that should be included with LVMv2 with one of the recent OE releases of 11.31. Volume group must be deactivated and this cannot be done for vg00.

It seems to work fine with the systems I have done it to.

VG00 can be lvmv2 but only from a install as far as I know... (I could be wrong)

Good luck.. try it with a small VG first. it changes the structure of the VG and can be revered if no other changes have been made.

Torsten means you'll need a March 2009 release of HP-UX 11.31 (or newer) to have the LVM version upgrade capability.

Please see this whitepaper (titled LVM Volume Group Version Migration):

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/CoreRedirect.jsp?redirectReason=DocIndexPDF&prodSeriesId=4296010&targetPage=http%3A%2F%2Fbizsupport2.austin.hp.com%2Fbc%2Fdocs%2Fsupport%2FSupportManual%2Fc01916196%2Fc01916196.pdf

I have a vg that is 1.0 i need to extend the vg and the lv, it says that i cant. After doing some research i have read that it needs to be level 2.1 to extend the vg past where i am. Is there a way to make the vg 2.1 with rebuilding it?
