You have to boot from the DVD and if I remember correctly it is in the Install HP-UX and something like advanced options. You will see an option for using a tape to recover.

The rx2660 is an Integrity server and has EFI, no IPL or such thing.

Use the boot manager and create a new boot entry. You will find the tape there.

You can also use the "2-step" method and booting from DVD, from Ignite menu select the tape to restore.

Booting from tape was not available on the rx2600 and I don't know if it was ever added in later firmware releases.

You have to boot from the CD or DVD installation media and then point the install interface program to the tape device.

http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90772/ch11s11.html?btnNext=next%A0%BB

Hi Nirukshitha,

Please note that , you are using an Integrity server, which doestn have IPL/PDC

You have EFI shell to do everything.

1. Some of the entry level servers with specific firmware doesnt support tape boot.

2. You may kindly check the tape boot support firmware/hardware list in the doc.

3. To boot above mentioned system, you should have DVD , go to advance options , you will get an option to boot from tape.

4. YOu will see errors if the versions in DVD and Ignite tape are different. ( we will discuss this trouble later if you face).

5. To check how to create a boot option and boot from the tape please refere document below.

http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01942571/c01942571.pdf

page number 219 ..
Tape Recovery for Itanium-Based Systems

Regards,
Sooraj
