restoring /opt from ignite

Hi Admins,

scenario..

My /opt corrupted.Ho can i restore only /opt from ignite..

The ignite tape is a tar/pax archive.

Forward the tape and restore by using tar.

Not sure if this works while /opt is not there.

# mt -f /dev/rmt/_mn rew
# mt -f /dev/rmt/_mn fsf 1
# tar -tvf /dev/rmt/_mn

Maybe it is better to restore the complete system.

Have you tried with FSCK in single user mode?

Better to recover full system from Ignite Tape.

HI

Thanks for the responses.

Actually i have a ignite image and now i want to install a client using the image.Please tell me the exact procedures.

My server is 11.23 intergity..

I heard that lanbbot can be used.But i am not aware the procedure.

We dont use dhcp and dns.

If restoring the itanium system from network, use dbprofile option from EFI.

yepp, the only recommended solution is to restore the whole system. There is a big chance that the other filesystems have been updated since the ignite backup. So you would end up with an inconsistent system if you would only restore a single filesystem.

Do a help dbprofile.

You configure IP address and ignite server address in order to boot from the ignite server - so you don't need DHCP.
