Ignite is a free download. Its better than kickstart or jumpstart. You can get it here at this link:

If you have a 4mm tape drive on a server then I would start here using the :

make_tape_recovery, command

However, most datacenters use an ignite network server to backup, say 70 servers. If you have an administrative server that is not in the production environment then I would use the server as my master.

If you choose to go in this direction then let me know, for you'll have many tasks to look into including a very big file system to store archives. Each archive is approx. 4 GB. You'll want at least one for 30 days on the box. You'll want the box backed up at least once a month. If you have 40 servers then you'll need a file system 4 GB *40*2. 2 is for one current and one previous backup.

This is a beginning. So try a make_tape_recovery first on a test box and then try a restore. These are the basics that you MUST know. You must know how to restore automatically, and how to clone and make changes to the current restore.

Ignite-UX is very useful tool, but when using it to install servers it may or may not be simple to use, depending on what you need to do, as it relies on a stack of seemingly endless configuration files. However, the tool is mature and very well documented. I suggest you take a look at the quickstart guide first -- it gives you step-by-step instructions to perform many of the mose usual activities.
