Hi, all
again me...:)

I have make_net_recovery result with more than 2 GB file size (3,4 GB).

As I read on this forum, pax does not support more than 2 GB file.

even I have patched the pax to support for > 2GB:
B.11.23: PHCO_31634 s700_800 11.23 Cumulative changes to pax(1)

I was thinking to make multiple result of make_net_recovery so each file have <2GB.

how to do that?

on 11.23 you have no problem ing making files bigger thant 2 gigs with pax.

What release or patch update are you runing?

Have you has a look if largefiles is on, on the filesystem making the image?

check it out with:

fsadmin -v /fs

Large file is on already:
[root@dbtemip] --> fsadm -F vxfs -v /opt/app/oracle
vxfs fsadm: using device /dev/vg01/rlvol1
largefiles

I am using ignite:
Ignite-UX C.7.6.98 HP-UX System Installation Services

Actually on Ignite server we use HP-UX 11.23 Itanium and on client we are using HPUX 11.23 PA-RISC.

Is it a problem?

And whats the problem ?, on the log you attached ignite image ends ok.

the prolem is when i am trying to verify the recovery result using the following command:
/opt/ignite/lbin/list_expander -l out_bck -S -C -f 2008-11-20,13:26

it return error saying is tar can only recognize file under 2 GB.

How actually to verify that our recovery result is correct instead of using log file?

pax is limited to 2 GB max for each file, not the size of the entire backup. There is no limit to the size of the total backup (other than disk space). Of course the Ignite backup filesystem (/var/opt/ignite) must support large files.

This should be the pax archive, containing smaller files.

pax can write terabytes of data to a tape or to a file. Each individual file inside the backup tape (or disk file) must be less than the 2 GB limit, but there is no pax limit on the size of the archive (tape or disk). Normal vg00 Ignite backups will be 5-25 GB in size.
