i apologize in advance for listing this request on the sysadmin forum and here, but i just found out that ignite had it's own forum.

does anyone have a simple example of how to do a create_system_image for an ignite backup (ignite for dummies). i then need to copy the files and create a bootable cd on my pc. HP just informed me that i can't create a bootable ignite tape on my msl2024 tape library, and since i don't have a writeable dvd/cd on the server i'm going to have to create one on my pc. I've created a network recovery archive using the ignite gui and i'm assuming i can use the files that were created as input to the bootable cd/dvd. I've got a copy of the ignite admin guide and while i'd love to tough it out and do it on my own, i'd like to get this process done before 'hell freeze's over'. I would prefer to start out by creating a bootable cd and then graduate to creating a network install someday.

steven... it looks like you do a make_sys_image which creates an archive.gz file and then you do a make_media_install which appears to use the archive.gz file.
the script i got from hp to create a bootable ignite file: "/opt/ignite/data/scripts/examples/make_media_install -r B.11.31 -m /mnt " ,makes no reference to a make_sys_image file.

Is there anyway of idenifying what's in the .iso file ?
