regarding ignite tape backup

hello friends ,

while taking ignite backup ,we use the tape drive connected to the ignite client , is it possible to have ignite backup on to a tape drive connected at the server .

please help

The question is not really clear - the tape is connected to the server, isn't it?

In case you mean the tape can be connected to a remote server, no, the tape must be local connected.

I want to know is it possible to have the tape drive connected to the server and complete the ignite tape backup of ignite client .

Is it mandatory to have tape drive connected to the client machine while taking ignite tape backup

You need to have the tape locally connected if you want to restore from.

But you can also make a network based backup to the server, restore from server too and make a backup of the archive file to a tape connected to the ignite server.

My team requires to have both the facilities

1) ignite net backup as well as
2) ignite tape backup ..

for the 2) case we need more tape drives ,

kindly suggest me how to take tape backup on the tape drive connected on servers and if not why we can't do it

Why you need both?

Think about how a client should use a remote SCSI tape for boot - this is not possible.
