Not an expert with bootsys ... :-(

As far as I know, running "bootsys -c IPofIgniteServer", will be enough if :

- you have a minimal kernel with ignite installed on the client box.

- you have correctly configured the Ignite Server itself in the /var/opt/ignite/clients/0x... and /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives/...

You will find complete help in http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-1959/5992-1959.pdf in particular in chapter 6 "Booting and Installing HP-UX From the Server Using the Client Console"

My client network card is not booting capable. To restore ignite from Ignite server i use Hp-UX 11.0 cd.

I get following Error.

* Using client directory: /var/opt/ignite/clients/0x001321EAA85C
ERROR: The version of Ignite-UX on the server you are using (C.6.1.44) is
different than the version of Ignite-UX that the client booted
(B.2.7.28). The versions must match in order to ensure correct
behavior. You may need to update the device you booted from with the
components found on the server.
to cause indeterminate problems. Do you want to continue anyway?
Bonjour,

I think the solution is in the error message : update ignite version on the server from C.6.44 to B.2.7.28, or latest one.

Regards

Eric

Oups, silly answer. Forget it !

I guess you must boot your HP-UX box with a most recent CD. What is the date of the CD you try to use ?

Eric

Before I tried 11.23 CD which gave me following Error

I am getting following error while restoring one of image. I have rename one of ur image to wuvps

ERROR: The version of HP-UX you have chosen to install on ^ â

â â the system (B.11.00) is not supported by the version of the â

â â Ignite-UX install kernel that the system booted (B.11.23). â

â â You will need to reboot the target system from an install â

â â kernel matching the desired release from the menu at the â

â â console. If using the bootsys command, use the '-R' option â

â â to specify the install kernel version.

My ignite Unix server OS Version is 11.0. So we have inserted this 11.0 CD

The problem is to find an installation CD that implements a C version of ignite lower than 7.3 : from this version, 11.0 is no longer supported. I am searching a matrix that could give use this information, but not yet found :-(

An other idea is to run "bootsys" from the client HP-UX. But this supposes that you can boot the client box with the installed HP-UX. And I guess that if you try to install an ignite image that is because you can no more boot this box. Right ?
