can we run ignite on dvd

Hi Gurus,

I just downloaded the latest Ingnite depot C.7.5.142 for B11.11.

Does any one know if we can run the ignite on the dvd rather than tape because My tape is not working.

Has anyone got the procedure to configure it?

If you can copy the Depot from CD/DVD to temp directory that will help.

Or you can mount remote directory and install Depot on NFS.

I have tried running depots from CDROM and had no problems....but the best way is to try it I fuess...

Make sure you dont have two copies of IGNITE...remove the first one through SAM..

I run all my DR recoveries from DVD/Ignite instead of tape.

I now create bootable ignite iso images of all my machines weekly then send a sett off site monthly.

Read through this script.
#/opt/ignite/data/scripts/examples/make_media_install

Once an ignite image is created you can use this supplied script to make DVDs, assuming you have a DVD-RW device on your server.

Or, you can use the script to create an ISO image, ftp it to someplace that has a DVD-RW.
