Hi,

could you be more specific? Did you try to boot from tape? Did you check the make_tape_recovery archiv? How was it created? Could you post the whole console log? I would suggest to check for bad hardware in the meantime.

Jeff,

you might have a corrupt LIF header.

do you get the same error when you BOOT PRI
?

Enter command: SEARCH IPL

do you see anything that has a bootable media ?

Enter command: SEARCH LAN INSTALL

This might be your only method to recover, but you will RE-LOAD..

Can you recovery your LIF using a Backup Tape ?

Hi,
I was loading the OS from Tape. I boot from SCSI.3.0 or Path Zero. After the initial boot from tape, I expect to see some options for loading of OS, but I see the above error.

I also change the tape drive to confirm that it was working. I was suspecting the RAM or the motherboard was defective.

What should I do?

Regards
Jeff

I would try to cold install the system with CD. If it works, you got a problem with the tape archive. If it does not work, most probably the system would be experiencing hardware defects.

Jeff- is the tape bad ? verify the tape contents using mt and tar on another system. do not load using tar, so no 'extract' or x option to tar.

you might want to be in a /tmp directory when you are reading the tape.

if the tape is trashed, and it might be, then use your CD Core/Recovery to bring up HPUX.

I was having similar problems igniting an N4000
The ignite tape was from 11.23

Booting...

Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 1
failed I/O operation with

ENTRY_IO
Status = -3

Come to find out the server GSP had been replaced and it had old PDC firmware
and the requirements for PCD firmware were 43.43

Current firmware (39.46) will be replaced by revision 43.43

Then it worked fine.
then
I also upgraded the GSP firmware to A.01.12
which was very old also.
