Install Golden Image from rp7440 to rp8440 (11iv1)

Hello
I have create an ignite-ux golden image from a rp7440 with the 11iv1 of June 2007.

When i want to install this image on a rp8440 the system panic with this messages :

Hi David,

Have you checked that the disk that you intend to install it to is fully functional? Alternativly there could be drivers required for the disk that do not appear in the original ignite tape - try upgrading the ignite to the latest version on the rp7460, take another image and ry again.

Hello Mike,

The version of ignite-ux is C.7.2.94 of june 2007.

And i try to install the system on the local hard drive (scsi ultra).

Hi David,

If the disk is good in the rp8440, then it may be necessary to check that you have the necessary patch bundles. Look on the ITRC, and select "Find patches in a patch set", select Ignite/UX from the drop down menu, remember to select hp-ux 11.11 and download and apply (if not applied already on the rp7440). Again, you will have to take another Ignite image and try it on the rp8440.

Hello Mike

You have right, i try to install a golden image from a server without the good fc driver.

but when i try to install the fc driver on the rp7440 to create a new golden image,
swinstall can't install the driver because the fc card on the rp7440 are not present .....

Who can i install the good fc driver on the destination server ?

Hi David,

You should be able to install the correct FC driver on the rp7440. For example if you have a fibre card A6795A then you should be able to load the software drivers, which are also called "A6795A - PCI Tachyon TL/TS/XL2 Fibre Channel". If I recollect correctly, the kernel will need regenerating, but the rp7440 should load it irrespective of whether the card is present.

I've seen where one has to unplug the fiber connections on a system to properly restore an Ignite image.

The messages were exactly what you received. Nobody at HP was ever able to explain to me why that needed to be done.

I can't unplug the Fiber channel from the FC card because i install the operating system through the SAN ....

I install the good FC drivers on the original server for the destination server, and now it work well.
