Shalom,

Certain versions of Ignite perserve mirroring, certain do not.

You have no choice not but to re-mirror your system.

lvlnboot -v
# shows current configuration.

BTW A cold install of 11.31 is the only way to reliably get to the OS. If you think its stable enough for your use.

SEP

Yesterday we attempted to upgrade 11.23 to 11.31 but failed, so we recovered using our handy Ignite tape. After using the ignite tape all is working but my root disks don't seem to be mirrored anymore. Do I have to remirror after restoring from my Ignite tape?
Yes, you have to re-mirror the disk. All the versions of ignite I have used do not automagically re-mirror the disk.......

Mirroring can be extremely complicated to restore so Ignite does not perform this task. The reason is that while you might have a simple 2 disk vg00, another user might have 6 disks with alternate paths and the mirrors must be spread across specific controllers and disks. And for the same reason, any striping in the original system is not restored -- for the same reasons. When you restore to a new (or the same) system, picking the disks to be used can be a big part of the restore process config step.
you will have to re-mirror again, but for the future take a look at this doc to see how to recover the mirror from a backup tape

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/cki/search.do?prevQueryString=&mode=text&searchString=KBQA00000588&submit1=Search+%C2%BB&searchCrit=allwords&docTypeAll=yesX&docType=Advisories&docType=WhitePapers&docType=EngineerNotes&docType=SecurityBulletins&docType=Manuals&docType=Patch&dateSearchType=lastXdays&dateRange=all&startDateYear=1999&startDateMonth=0&startDateDay=1&endDateYear=2007&endDateMonth=4&endDateDay=3&resPerPage=20&sortCrit=rank

the document number is KBQA00000588

Regards

Aussan
