Hi,

Im trying to set up an Ignite server to allow me to build systems from a Gold image. I have created a gold archive and the associated config files. However when i try to do a fresh install onto a new server i get the following output.

----
Main Menu: Enter command or menu > boot lan.192.168.150.80 install
Interact with IPL (Y, N, or Cancel)?> n

Booting...
Network Station Address 00306e-1c20ab
System IP Address 192.168.150.88
Server IP Address 192.168.150.80

Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2

At this point it just hangs, What have i missed? (The ignite server is HP-UX 11.11, im using an 11.00 image)

Hi,

what hardware is your target?
Can it run 11.0? 32bit?
Where does the image comes from?
Which hardware?

Any messages at the ignite server?
Have you started ignite to check the target?

Volkmar
Hi

I am working with Paul on this, we have 3 L class machines, 1 has been built from CD to 11.00. we are trying to clone this to the other machines.

to make the image we ran:
make_sys_image -s separate ignite server
-d /data/image

the ignite GUI on the ignite server is only showing the original client. From the ignite server we can see that it is assigning a temporary ip address (system ip address in the boot messages at the console). We are checking logs at the minute but cannot find anything.

Both the 2nd and 3rd machines hang after displaying Boot IO Dependent Code (IODC) revision 2

Im not sure what should happen now, but seeing as the boxes have a temporary ip, I guess there is a problem with tftp?
when we type "bo lan.ip install" we can see instl_bootd followed by the tftpd processes starting up. how long should the tftp take?

is there any way of monitoring the tftp?

ok sorted it... someone had configured the second lan card in the ignite server on the same subnet as the 1st lan card. this was confusing tftp.

it seems to be working now
