Ignite Boot Helper System

Hi Admins,

I have gone thru the document about boot helper system should be used across subnets.
Need some more help.
1.What is boot helper system?
2.Why is it required?
3.How to configure it in Ignite Server.

Hi,

1. It's to help an ignite client to boot if the client and the server is in different subnet.

2. It is required because ignite client can't boot if the server is in different subnet.

3.
- Install ignite ux minimum core functionality on any server with the same subnet of client
- set the default ignite ux server:
# /opt/ignite/bin/instl_adm -t
- configure your gateway on the subnet
# /opt/ignite/bin/instl_adm -g
-
for PA-RISC: on the boot helper, edit /etc/opt/ignite/instl_boottab and add temporary IP for boot up
for Integrity: on the boot helper, edit /etc/bootptab, and add temporary IP for boot up
