It seems you have an older version of Ignite where this error occurs. I would suggest updating to a newer version to have the error solved.

If you are on a supported HPUX version ( please supply, 11iv1, 11iv2, 11iv3 ?? )

If you are on hpux 10.20 or even 11.0 you may be stuck as those versions are not longer supported.

For current HPUX releases:
You can navigate to the HP site mentioned above and download the latest version of Ignite.

Once downloaded use swinstall to install the pieces you require. Reading The Ignite Admin guide found via the same link will help with details.

hello,

After doing some study on the scenario & details given by you. I have come to a conclusion.
1) if you see the error. It reports about LIF errors. There is nothing like LIF on Itanium Systems. They have slices. Please upgrade the version of Ignite UX.

2) Locate the OS DVD 1 and install Ignite UX and all installation utilities from that. Itanium systems need to boot from DVD in case if you want to restore the system from Ignite Tape. If you upgrade Ignite from web. You have to boot from DVD to use the tape and the backup you have taken is of different version. So there will be a version mismatch.

3) Use command in /opt/ignite/binia directory for itanium system.
