make_net_recovery gzip problem

Hi all,

I am receiving the below messages after i did make_net_recovery on HP-UX 11.11. Gzip version is 1.3.5. What may be problem?

gzip: stdout: File too large
ERROR: The gzip command failed (exit status 1).

ERROR: The make_sys_image command failed. The system recovery archive will
not be created.

Yes you have a problem.

Your version of gzip is not capaable of working with files of this size.

There is either a new version of gzip for HP-UX or most likely a patch in the patch databsae on http://itrc.hp.com

Hi,
check whether the filesystem where you store image can support largefiles.
#mount -v

Ensure your filesystem is largefiles capable and ensure you have a gzip version (1.3.5) capable of handling largefiles.

There is a tremendous amount of urban folklore about the version of gzip Ignite-UX uses in relation to the "file too large" message that sometimes occurs.

I have never seen Ignite-UX's gzip abort because of a largefile. I wrote a very detailed note about this which can be viewed here:
