Sounds like a PC issue. Have you tried to just "drag" it?

what kind of OS on your PC do you have and does it happen on other PC's with different OS's on them?

live free or die
harry

Hi,

Look like a PC NFS issue. First mount the remote share/directory as a local drive. Then try copying it.

HTH,
Shiju

Hi,

There is no permission issue.
WIN2K is client I can map this drive and It shows the list. But drag/drop copy/paste or just copy command from th dos command gives the same error. What does it mean by PC NFS error ..? What else I can check on the Client side..?
Other thing is the shared directory on HP box is mounted from another HP server over NFS

I've configured MY pc for Microsoft Client.

Rushank,

Are you kidding by this statement ==> "Other thing is the shared directory on HP box is mounted from another HP server over NFS "

Basically you have an NFS mount to an NFS mount. I'm not too sure how supported this is. It sure adds a lot of network traffic. THe problem is that when you try to copy from the NFS mount that is NFS mounted is that it has no where on the middle server to place this temporary file.

live free or die
harry

Rushank,

Maybe you should but samba server on the originating server, which we will call OrigServer. THen from your middle server, which we will call DataServer, mount the OrigServer using samba client. Then on your DataServer start the samba server showing your samba mounts to your OrigServer.

No Idea if it will work, but I guess it's worth a try if you can't have your PC's directly mount to your OrigServer.

live free or die
harry

Hi Rushank,

I don't think the cascaded distributed mounting is supported ! Read the man pages of mount_nfs. This is not the proper way and that's why you are getting error.

Mount the drive directly from the orginal server will be the best option to try.

HTH,
Shiju

Hi
May be I was not clear in my clarification..

samba server runs on X HP box and it is a NFS client. (The shared samba directory is exported by another server.)
From Client (Win98, WIN2K) I can map this drive and it shows all the files instanatly. It was working happily more than year but since last one week we are facing this problem.
