First time using an Ignite Server

Hi,

After having lots of hardware problems with a DVD drive, I need to try and install 11.23 onto a Superdome partition from an Itanium server that I hope will become a temporary Ignite server. I have used "swcopy" to copy the contents of the DVD install media to a directory on the Itanium server.

So I guess now all I need to do is configure ignite on the Superdome to install 11.23 from the Itanium server, sounds easy :-)

Can anyone point me to a straight forward step by step instruction on how I might perform this configuration?

Shalom,

Share a DVD rom drive that is rock solid with NFS somewhere else on the network.

An swcopy of the Core OS from a shakey DVD drive is a recipe for disaster, or more accurately no disaster recovery.

Also remember that ignite clients can only boot on built in NIC's. I don't think there is an option for add in cards in a superdome cell, but you may run into roadblocks that require special effort to overcome.

Download latest version of ignite and install it.
RUn /opt/ignite/bin/ignite from GUI
select server setup wizard.
Enter the details and finish

Thanks for all the suggestions. It looks like our OS DVD is what was causing our problems and we have decided to go with 11.11.
