Hi Everyone,

I did an ignite make_tape_recovery -Av command in my server. Unfortunately, until now ignite is still running and i suspect it hanged. How can i be able to check it that it hanged or how can i have it finish successfully. Please see below for additional details....

root@insmi3:/var/opt/ignite/recovery# cat client_status
Prepare_Client  Active
Prepare_Client  Complete
Save_System_Configuration       Active
Save_System_Configuration       Complete
Prepare_Archive_Configs Active
Prepare_Archive_Configs Complete
Build_Archive   Active
root@insmi3:/var/opt/ignite/recovery# cat previews
archive_size=8458120
last_preview=2006-08-26,11:22
description=Recovery Archive
tape_destination=/dev/rmt/0mn
archive_type=tar
root@insmi3:/var/opt/ignite/recovery# cd latest
root@insmi3:/var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest# ls
archive_cfg      control_cfg      recovery.log     tape
archive_content  flist            system_cfg
root@insmi3:/var/opt/ignite/recovery/latest# cat recovery.log

=======  08/26/06 11:22:56 WAST  Started make_tape_recovery.
Hi,

First of all you can see whether the session is OK by looking on the tape LED. If it's blinking everything is all right.
Additionally, if you have glance installed, start up glance (not gpm) , choose the process of ignite and look on its files. The "shift" parameter of tape must grow.

HTH

Hello.

I think that process is hanged, and that you need to kill it.

How long has it been running ?

Also it would be best if you upgraded your current version of ignite with the new one since it free.

Shalom,

I think you should first check the log file that Victor posted. If anything is being posted there it could be the key to solving the problem.

That being said, it would appear the Ignite process is quite hung since I saw this thread some time ago.

You can kill the make_sys_image process and the rest of the processes should fail.

SEP@40,000 feet
