Hanging ignite

Hi Everyone,

I did an ignite make_tape_recovery -Av command in my server. Unfortunately, until now ignite is still running and i suspect it hanged. How can i be able to check it that it hanged or how can i have it finish successfully. Please see below for additional details....

Hi,

First of all you can see whether the session is OK by looking on the tape LED. If it's blinking everything is all right.
Additionally, if you have glance installed, start up glance (not gpm) , choose the process of ignite and look on its files. The "shift" parameter of tape must grow.

The LED is not blinking or flashing but steady greed light. FYI.

Can I see a different log aside from recovery log where what part of the file is currently being copient to tape where I can easily make tail -f. I dunno if its hanged already....

Progress and errors are logged to /var/opt/ignite/logs/makrec.log1

Hello.

I think that process is hanged, and that you need to kill it.

How long has it been running ?

Also it would be best if you upgraded your current version of ignite with the new one since it free.

Shalom,

I think you should first check the log file that Victor posted. If anything is being posted there it could be the key to solving the problem.

That being said, it would appear the Ignite process is quite hung since I saw this thread some time ago.

You can kill the make_sys_image process and the rest of the processes should fail.
