Hey;

I need an ignite guru. I've attached the config.local that I'm trying to use. The top several lines set dns, tz, and root password info. That part works fine.

The next section is *supposed* to set OS filesystem sizes if the root disk is over 100 gigs. If "if" statement is taken right out of the ignite training manual (& man page for that matter) and the sizing information is taken from a cfg that I "save as"'ed from the GUI after configuring the thing.

When I go to run a new install, I can see the changes to the tz; however, the filesystems stubbornly remain the default which is too small for the golden image that I'm using.

Can anyone tell me what I'm messing up?

Thanks for any hints/tips/suggestions.

Doug O'Leary

The first thing I see is that you have:

max_physical_extents=5000
physical_extent_size=8

That means your disk size = 8 MB * 5000 extents = 40,000 MB or approx. 40 GB.

Now, I would set your max_physical_extents to something like 10,000 and the physical_extent_size to 16 or 32. That would give you a max disk size of 160,000 MB or 320,000 MB.

I think everything else looks OK.

Now, THAT's funny!

Most of the systems I'm working on are fairly new and have a couple of 146 gig disks in them. The one I'm testing on? A couple of 36 gig disks...

When you posted the max physical extents and physical extent size, my first thought was:

"Well, how the ^&U^ did it work here?"

Sure enough, a 36 gig disk won't be greater than 100 gigs so the logic won't get applied.

You know, some people actually think I'm reasonably intelligent... Good thing they don't see crap like this!

Thanks for the help. BTW, I did up the max sizes for use in disks > 100 gigs. Appreciat e the tip. I also reduced the target disk size to 30 gigs...

Doug O'Leary
