Hi Raf,

Check your PATH using which. You should see the following output:

#which make_tape_recovery
/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery

If not add "/opt/ignite/bin" to your PATH or run the command "/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery"

regards,
Paul

Farhan,

I think your version of your IgniteUX is newer than O.S so that you should install more patchs to your machine.

In addition, you should check if ignite software is installed or not by swlist and the most important thing I want to say "make_tape_recovery" is a old command and maybe now it 's not supported in a new version, you can choose an alternative command "/opt/ignite/bin/make_recovery" to make a recovery tape.

Hope it helps,
HMT
There are hundreds of locations for executables so the PATH variable is setup to search the directories for you. Whenever you get an error message "command not found", it means that it is located in a directory not in your PATH. As mentioned, when you install HP-packaged software like Ignite/UX, an entry is made in the file /etc/PATH. To update your PATH variable, log out and back in again.

Or use the full pathname:

/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery

I had to log out and log back in again in order to set the path.

Now there is another problem, I'm using the command "make_tape_recovery -I -a /dev/rmt/0mn -x inc_entire=vg00" but I'm getting the following error

Bad magic number for shared library: /opt/ignite/lib/libcfg.l
/usr/lib/dld.sl.Exec format error.

Please advise

Thanks&Reagards,
Raf

You defintely need the 10.01 version of Ignite. Unfortunately, the correct version (for your obsolete version of HP-UX) was removed from the software depot site a couple of years ago. I don't believe that make_tape_recovery was ever written or tested for 10.01 (circa 1995). As far as I can remember, make_recovery is all that ever worked with 10.01 and the 10.xx bundle was last updated a couple of years ago. A 10+11 bundle is likely incompatible with 10.01. The only possible fix is to reinstall your system to either 11.00 (going obsolete very soon) or 11.11 (recommended).

I recommend you dig up a quarterly update for HP-UX 10.01.

Then you need to install the patches.

I believe you still may be able to search the patch database and build custom patch depots for 10.x HP-UX by clicking here:

http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/search.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|&pageContextName=hpux:::

The Link may be different in Europe. Just start at itrc.hp.com and pick patch/firmware database.

I have just verified that 10.01 patches are available.

SEP

Hi,

Hoang Minh Tuan --->
make_tape_recovery is not the old command but in fact is the new command & is a replacement for the make_recovery.Allthough in such old versions of ignite which is supported on 10.01 you would possibally not find new command make_tape_recovery.

The problems seems due to installing a software version which is not for that OS release.

HTH,
Devender
