make_tape_recovery -Iv -x inc_entire=vg00

try this:

# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn

please use make_tape_recovery and not make_recovery cause that is the latest.

Just a small note, if you don't specify the -a /dev/rmt/0mn as mentioned, the default tape will be used.

using the no rewind (xmn) is always safe!

I'm downloading the ignite ux software for HP-UX 11i. By the way, what are the patches needed after installing ignite ux? The website tells us something on the required pax patches.

You must download and install PAX patch prior to running Ignite to ensure a good ignite tape:
PHCO_30420 for 11i

PAX is a command that works like tar

man pax for more info

Hi,

You could do it with an extra option for vg01:

make_tape_recovery -Iv -x inc_entire=vg00 -x inc_entire=vg01

But Ignite should only be used for OS backup.
