Hi

What is the networking like.

Ignite defaults to half duplex.

You should set the contact switches to auto-negotiation .

Also you can have problems with excess leading zeroes in your IP address.

I went down that road.

Steve STeel

Hi,

1 - Verify if your ignite directory is enable for tftp in /etc/inetd.conf :
tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/lbin/tftpd tftpd#\
/opt/ignite#\
/opt/ignite\
/var/opt/ignite\
/var/opt/ignite/scripts

2 - Verify if the tftp port is enable from client. If not, it's perhaps because of a firewall...

Hope this will help you...
Regards

in the past I have seen tftp timeouts when my ignite server was multi-homed and the "undesired" server IP address ended-up in the *INSTALLFS file.

i worked around the problem in the client cui on the console - sorry but I forget the exact sequence I followed, but it got me to a screen that allowed me to alter the IP address of the ignite server.

the "fix" was to use instl_adm to alter the IP address in the *INSTALLFS file

btw, HP-UX 100BT NICs default to auto-negotiate. they will go into half-duplex if the other side asks for HD, or if the other side is hardcoded (hardcode means autoneg "fails" and the spec requires the side trying to autoneg to go into HD at that point).
