lost cd

I have a remote site in our corporation that has lost there HP-UX 10.2 installation CD. They have good backups but are concerned if they have a crash and need to reinstall the OS they will be stuck. What can they do?

Hi John,

You can take an ignite backup which will the restore the system to as it is.
For this Ignite UX has to be installed.

check for swlist -l fileset |grep -i ignite

if its not installed get it from
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

take a backup of your root volume group..
make_tape_recovery -I -a /dev/rmt/0mn -x inc_entire=vg00

you can restore the entire contents of your root from this tape...
