What options did you use when you make the image? Check the man page, search for newconfig.

In addition, check your Ignite version to make sure that VxVm is being handled properly. Check the release notes for changes:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/docs/release_note.html

Download the software:
http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

I loaded a system, from scratch, with Veritas Volume Manger. Ran make_sys_image to place the new vxfs image on my test ignite server. Ignited a server from that image. The image gets restored, but is using LVM instead of Veritas.

Sorry, Chad, but I've got to think that's a feature. I've been unable to come up with any concrete reason to go with VVM. Ignite unconverted for you!

Pete

No special options. Just the defaults to automatically put it out on the ignite server. We are running version 4.1.61 of Ignite. There are no errors. I do notice that the first thing that ignite does when loading the client is to create vg00. Very strange that it is my image, but somewhere it is being converted to LVM.

Actually you are kind of lucky. To get Ignite's make_config and save_config commands to work properly, I had to rip vxvm out of the system entirely.

I get the impression since the merger that HP is backing away from vxvm. That is just an opinion though.

SEP

Problem was in the cfg file. Had to modify "Disk and Filesystem" area to specify veritas info. Used a save_config from a running VXFS system to help build a template.

I'm actually trying to achieve the conversion from VxVM (rootdg) to LVM, but be able to convert via bootable tape. "make_tape_recovery" apparently doesn't allow you to change the underlying Volume Manager when you boot off of it, though.

Would anyone be able to offer assistance? I have to convert from VxVM to LVM due to SAN attachment requirements (VxVM must be uninstalled).

HP-UX version: 11.11
Ignite-UX version: B.4.3.123

Thank you,

Scott
