Has anyone had a problem with Ignite not being compatible with the system cpu's on an HP-UX?

Joey,

Can you supply us with more information as to how you are using Ignite for the system?

Are you trying to clone the current system with a tape/image from another?

Also, what version of OS are you at and what revision of Ignite are you using?

There shouldn't be any problems unless you are trying to ignite a system using an image from another system.

It is best if your considering igniting a new system from an existing one, to clone it off a similar class machine.

To create a tape:

# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Eric-

The Hp server has OS v.11.0 installed on it. I don't know what ver of Ignite is on that server. While trying to recover data, the tape drive output the following:
error 12 processor 1.

After some troubleshooting, HP stated that the current version of Ignite was not compatible with the system CPU's.

# more /opt/ignite/Version

I do vaguely recall coming across a post earlier here on the forums noting that a restore from an image created from a system with a different CPU version caused errors.

Check out the matrix of supported machines listed in the Release Notes (Section 5.2). There are some servers not supported in the A version and older 700 workstations are supported only in the B version.
