I'm trying to make an archive recovery from a Ignites server and I get the messasge:

NFS server not responding still trying.

Any idea?

Problem Description

I am having problems with Ignite/UX. When it gets to the
software loading stage, I get these messages on the client
console:

nfs server 172.16.18.222 not responding, still trying
nfs server 172.16.18.222 not responding, still trying
nfs server 172.16.18.222 ok
nfs server 172.16.18.222 ok

This address is the address of the Ignite server

How do I solve this problem?

Configuration Info

Operating System - HP-UX
Version - 10.20
Hardware System - HP9000
Series - 720

Solution

Solve the problem by installing this patch:

PHNE_17098

Note: Patches can be superseded by subsequent versions;
be sure to load the current version.

Hi,

I've been able to read the link.

The OS is 10.20, but my system is 11.0. I don't have installed the patch mentioned.

on both systems run "rpcinfo -p" and "showmount" to see if the currently exported and mounted file systems are as expected.

I can do it on Ignite server, but I can't do it on the client because I can't start it up.

On the server is correct.

I got the same problem when trying to recover a 715 workstaion. Did you solve your problem ?

Hi Alex,

i think we had exactly your Problem.

The Reason was a Network Problem.

We connected the Clients to install with a small Hub (10 Mbit) to our Backbone Switch (Port configured for 10 Mbit).
Everything worked well.

Then we replaced our small Hub by a 100 Mbit Hub and the Problems began.

Th Problem was solved when the Backbone Switchport was configured to 100 Mbit.

(If you press after the Message NFS server..
occurs, ignite installs the client nevertheless)
