It goes through and creates the logical volume and partions. Then links to some files off the DLT. I get a

ERROR: directory checksum error.
WARNING: could not save patched version of pax.
WARNING: could not make link to "usr/bin/hp9000s700" No such file or directory (errno=2)
etc..

Is there something that needs to be loaded on a plan jane system w/ no patch or ignite..etc..??

I am not sure whether DLT support as the Ignite Media or bootable device. Otherwise you should not have any problem.

Try to install it in interactive method like by selecting the root disk and specifying the Network Parameters.

Sandip

Hi Amy

It looks to me that there is problem witht he media , please try to laod using interactive method , but most likely this will also faila as there is a problem with the media itself.

Manoj Srivastava

Hi Amy:

1) The best try will be creating a new ignite tape and start the process again. It's always good to have two ignite tapes for safety. Create the recovery tapes with interactive option (-I).

2) There is another chance that the ignite fails with pax failed to create hardlinks/symlinks between filesystems. If that is the case, then while it prompts for a shell ( "would you like to push a debug shell ?") give "yes" and from the shell just type "exit 2" to ignore the error and it will continue. Once the system is up, then you can more easily determine what should be done with the paths it complained for. This is an option, if you are sure there is no other issues with ignite. ( I have not tried this personally )

3) Check the ignite errors/warnings while you create the media. You can even check the ignite tapes with 'pax' command after the creation.

HTH,
Shiju

Hi Amy,

Hi Amy

I think recently you have upgraded your Ignite-UX software. Please apply the pax patches for the same. You can download any pax patches from ignite site.

PHCO_25418

Load the above patch and take the ignite image again.

Thanks,
-pap

The patch helped the errors but it bombed out on another error. The system was loaded with the OS software from scratch and I loaded the patches from the CD. I???m not sure if I need to load the four disk with the applications. I thought ignite was included with the 11.00 software or may it???s on the application CD???s?
(I like having a system with CD???s and no documentation)
Hi Amy:

The easist way to insure you have latest Ignite software is to download it from here:

http://www.software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html

Use 'swinstall' to (re)install from the tar depot from the download; specify the 'reinstall filesets' [ -x reinstall=true ] option of 'swinstall' and you will have a clean (re)installation. No reboot is required, and you will find that the entire installation takes no more than 30 minutes.

Regards!

...JRF...
