Lvols and filesystem creation are defined on CONFIG file on the lif area.

You can find an example, the default config, in /opt/ignite/data/Rel_B.11.00/config. See this file first to undesrtand how IGNITE manage LVM on install.

You will need to read instl_adm 1M and maybe instl_adm 4.

What is the procedure for automatically defining LVM volume sizes, prior to loading the Golden Image from the server?

When I look at the console prior to the build all the default LVM sizes are incorrect and need adjusting, is there a config file that can be used, for defining this? I thought it might be the impact statement in the core*cfg file but this doesn't appear to be the case?

Cheers
Russ.

Hi,

I've done the exact method your trying to
do, but I have a master tape that I use
to create a skeleton system. On one machine
I create a OS of exactly what I want and
then duplicate it onto another booting
from the tape. I'm sure it can be done
from an ignite server, but as I say I've
not done it.

To create the tape:

# /opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Hi

when you restore a golden image you do not need to worry about the present LVM configuration. The restore process will build all the LVM configuration based on the image. The restore can be performed in interactive mode so that you can alter LVM configuration of the image if required .

cheers
John.

I useful trick is to use advanced install, and on system tag, configure your lvols as needed.

After conmplete install, you will find config file used on /var/opt/ignite/local/config the configuration used. You can then use this file as CONFIG for your next cold install.
