topic vpar software in Operating System - HP-UX

I am trying to create two vpars on a two cell RP7410 server, but I have a couple of questions. Each cell has 4 cpus.

Will the vpar software install with HPUX lliv1 Dec 2006 automatically or do I have to install a vpar depot? where can I obtain the vpar depot if it does not?

If I ultimately want two vpars, one accessing 2 cpus and the other 6 cpus do I create one npar first?

Thank you for any help.

>Will the vpar software install with HPUX lliv1 Dec 2006 automatically
No it will not as it is on separate media in 11iv1

> where can I obtain the vpar depot if it does not?
You must purchase the Software, this will get the media sent to you

>If I ultimately want two vpars, one accessing 2 cpus and the other 6 cpus do I create one npar first?
Yes, you create one large nPar, install the OS onto the boot disk, as well as the vPar software. Then create your two vPars, remember that you will still have to install the OS AND the vPar software onto the second vPar boot disk.

Shalom,

If you have a software support agreement:

http://www13.itrc.hp.com/service/sum/home.do

You order the necessary media above.

Note also December 2006 software is pretty old, and you might want to consider building your vpars with a more recent release.

SEP
