Migrate vPar to IVM

Hi all,

I have to migrate 3 vPars located in a RX server to 3 IVMs located in a Proliant IVM Host.
The vPars are HPUX 11.23, the IVM Host will be 11.31 and obviously the Guests 11.23. The OS are located in local disks for the vPars as well as the Guests.
Could I do the migration as easy as igniting the vPars and restore the ignites in the IVMs?

Yep, the Proliant is a BL870c.
I have already been reading this document but it talks about migrate vPars to IVMs in the same system, that is, using the same system disks, but I have to migrate from the RX to the Blade.

As Torsten said, there are no Proliants here. A BL870c is a HP Integrity server blade or BL870c for short.

Also, instead of saying IVM, you should say HPVM. (The former is IBM.)

Yes, as I told in one of my posts, I read that document, but it talks about migrate the vPars to HPVMs in the same physical server, that is, remove the vPars software from the system disk of the vPars and use the same disks as the system disks of the HPVMs.
But I want to migrate the vPars from the RX server to the BL870c using different disks.

Sorry, I missed this.

I would try to take an ignite backup, restore this to a HPVM, remove the vPars and install the HPVMGuest software.

Do you think the ignite backups will boot on the HPVMs having the vPars software installed?
I haven't got a lot of experience with vPars, but having the vPars SW installed, won't the Ignite backups try to boot de vpmon during the boot sequence?

I don't know if this really works, but I think it will. You need to boot vmunix (like the nPars mode in a vPars machine), of course.

The supported method for migration of systems is.....

Ignite.

Do a make_net_recovery to an Ignite server (NFS share) on the submet of the HPVM blade system.

Then boot the HPVM system with the -I parameter. No need to define the server name as under PA-RISC Ignite.
