Can we extend the default file systems on HP-UX 11i v3

Hi All,

Can we extend following default file systems on HP-UX 11i v3.

/
/var
/tmp
/opt
/usr
/var/tmp
/home

Of that, what are the filesystem we can extend.

Hi:

If you have OnlineJFS you can grow filesystems on-the-fly. Since the '/' filesystem needs contiguous physical extents, though, you will not be able to enlarge this without invoking other procedures. Re-Igniting your server to enlarge '/' (usually unnecessary anyway) is one such method.

The easiest way to do this would be to properly size them at install time, but yes, you can enlarge any of them with varying amounts of effort.

1)Can we enlarge all the filesystems other than / by using normal method (with out JFS)?

Ex:

/var
/tmp
/opt
/usr
/var/tmp
/home

2)Issued following command to check if the online JFS has been installed or not?

# swlist | grep -i online
B3929EA B.11.31 HP OnLineJFS (Server)
OnlineDiag B.11.31.05.06 HPUX 11.31 Support Tools Bundle, March 2009

So online JFS has been installed on my server, am i correct?

3)Do we need any license for online JFS?

4)I am able to select online JFS while installing HP-UX 11.31, so that i can use the features of online JFS with out any lincense, am i correct?

3) I don't believe so - at least on my 11.11 systems none was necessary.

With HPUX 11iv3, the only OE that does not include ONLINEJFS is BASE-OE. Therefore, you most likely have a license for ONLINE-JFS;
swlist|grep -i OE
