Bonjour,

What we can see is that :

- host ip 10.x.x.114 is bound to host's lan1
- virtual switch 'clan1' is bound to host's lan1
- virtual switch 'clan1' is up and running
- guest ip 10.x.x.101 is bound to guest's lan1 (nothing to do with host's lan1, just the same name)
- guest nic lan1 is connected to virtual switch 'clan1'

... and the guest can join the VM Host. Nice, I couldn't understand if it was not the case.

But how does the host to communicate with external servers ? If it uses lan0, from which you gave no information, it could be a normal behavior if :

- host's lan0 has a different IP subnet than the IP bound to host's lan1

- if host's lan0 and lan1 are not in the same ethernet lan or in a different vLan. You can check this with 'linkloop -i 1 0x001438EBFBBE'

Eric

Have you created a virtual switch that maps to a phisical nic(that has external conectivity) on the host?

more info on your configuration please,
It's almost imposible to help you, with this kind of input.

Not sure with your question.

If you are really speaking of the "same IP" assigned to both guest and host, the answer is definitivly NO.

If your are speaking in term of the "same IP network", the answer is that it depends on your network topology.

In this case, just forget that the VM guest is a virtual machine and just think in term of ip subnet and ip routing. And answer to the question : if my virtual machine was a hardware box, what should I do in order to have it speaking with other nodes.

What about lan0 on the VM Host ?

Eric
