problem by assigning AVIO disk

hello,
this day update the vm guest and host to version 3.5
the disk were changes by AVIO.
the update was successful
I need to add two new disk to the guest to date, but displays the following error:

hpvmmodify-p 1-a disk: avio_stor: 0,0,1: disk: / dev/rdsk/c35t2d3.

command applies to the VM guest running.

The server is Produccion. I nedd assigned 2 disk new. the VM Guest has assigned 30 disk. were migrated from VIO to AVIO_STOR.

I think the problem is:
bus 0, dev 0, func 0, target 1, lun 0
is being used in one of the disk that have already been allocated.
I can change the new disk in this direction?

Yes, the device address is already being used and hence allocated to another
disk.When the new disk also refers to the same address, a conflict is reported.

Using the hpvmmodify command for the new disk should solve the problem.

Like I said, what does hpvmstatus -v -p 1 show as copnfigured, if you had posted here we could actually see rather than guess what is already configured

hpvmmodify -p1 = SAPL909

Note: the hpvmstatus to send a few minutes ago the lun 001 is used by another disk.

I think that's the problem

Hi Daniel,

From the output you have provided,

The combination of bus=0,dev=0,func=0,target=1,lun=0 is already allocated
to the device "/dev/rdsk/c39t1d2". Hence when you try to assing the same
values to a different device "/dev/rdsk/c35t2d3" using hpvmmodify, you
are getting the following error -

>> - bus 0, dev 0, func 0, target 1, lun 0.
This is the cause for the problem.

You need to give the hpvmmodify command for the device "/dev/rdsk/c35t2d3"
with its corresponding values for bus,dev,func,target,lun.
This should solve the problem.

yes, that's exactly what I need.
attempt to locate bus, dev, func, target and lun of the device wiht command gvsdmg, but the command does not host.

there is another way to locate the data disk?

How about a IOSCAN command to locate the disk.

The IOSCAN is giving the hardware path.
To map this to the Bus/Dev ... etc, refer the following link -

-> section "Mapping AVIO Storage Devices on 11i v2 Guests"

The link also talks about the gvsdmgr utility.

to Bus, Dev ...

What does the output of "#ioscan -fne" look like?

is the disk which causes this problem

you logon to guest machine and find out this disk from ioscan output

this disk will be as like

c0t1d0

find out which vg have this disk

umount mount points which are comes under this

vgexport -p -m /tmp/vgname.map vgname

take details of all pvs whiech are comes under this vg

vgchange -a n vgname

vgexport

remove this from guest using hpvmmodify

add your new disk

trace disk in vmguest

add your old disk

trace out in guest

vgimport -v -m /tmp/vgname.map vgname pvs...

if it gives error
simply vgimport -v vgname pvs...

this will solve your problem
