Bonjour Henry,

"but if so, then would installation of HPVM guest software set it to 0."

It is so true that it does ... when installing an HPVM host. Take a look on the VM Host at dbc_min_pct and dbc_max_pct if your host is 11.23 or filecache_min and filecache_max if the host is 11.31

An other point : file cache at host level could happens only if you create virtual disks with files. If you use LV or raw devices as backing store, file cache has no sense.

Eric

Using a VM guest running hp-UX 11iv3, I see glance reporting a File Cache use of 2.5G. I would have think best practices have file caching on the host - but if so, then would installation of HPVM guest software set it to 0.

Anyone have ideas or experience on this?

Thank you in advnce

>I would have think best practices have file caching on the host

Why would the host even bother to cache it? It can't share the cache for any other processes.
And I would assume each VM would be accessing the non-cached filesystem.
