Geoff:
I did the upgrade from June,06 media to December,07. and IVM 3.0 to 3.5. I did not have any issue. Just closely follow the instruction. The reason I'm looking at EOE is that first, I already have the license and support for EOE. Second, I want to take the advantage of software packed in EOE like glance.

Does anyone out there have experience to upgrade an Integrity Virtual Machine host from 11.23 FOE to 11.23 EOE? Any known issues and/or concerns, suggestions?
Thansk.
Karen

Shalom,

Upgrade the license.

Update the support agreement, get the media and codewords.

Install what you like off the media.

No need to update the OS or anything. The codewords will unlock the software you need

SEP

Funny you should mention. I am currently testing ( over and over) applying maintenance release updates ( i.e. June 2006 EOE to Dec 1007 EOE ).

Although I am not updating from FOE to EOE I just happened to in the chapter. It looks to be as simple or the same as doing an update.

Seems it will be a straight forward process. Will there be any changes to the existing guests which run hpux 11.31?

updating the host affects only the hos, not the guest OS.
Also, as VM is NOT part of an OE under 11.23, there will be no changes to the VM configuration.

BUT, always err on the side of caution, and have a good backup (Ignite image etc) before proceeding
From the update HPUX 11iv2 guide.

Adding or Upgrading an OE
To install an OE on an HP-UX 11i v2 system not containing an OE, or to
upgrade HP-UX 11i v2 to higher-level OE (for example, HP-UX 11i v2
Foundation OE to HP-UX 11i v2 Enterprise OE), insert the HP-UX 11i
v2 DVD and specify the new OE using the update-ux command.
For example, to add the HP-UX 11i v2 Enterprise OE, enter:
/usr/sbin/update-ux -s /dvdrom HPUX11i-OE-Ent
When the update is complete, the original OE bundle wrapper (if one
existed) is removed and replaced with the new bundle wrapper.
