Bonsoir Fernando,

I see no error message ? How many time have you been waiting before deciding that the process is definitively frozen ? After all there is the following message "The currently requested operation may take much longer time than normal to complete".

How have you created this ISO image ? Something like "dd if=/dev/rdsk/<CDROM> of=/<PATHTOISO> ... bs=2048k"

Could you give more informations :

- VM Host HP-UX version : 11.23 december 2007 ?
- Version of HPVM : 3.5 ?
- configuration of the guest (hpvmstatus -P vm2) ?

A demain

Eric</PATHTOISO></CDROM>

Hello,

I have 1- VM host and 2 VM guests.
After creating 2 virtual machine(guests) on VM host, I started installation OS(HPUX 11.23) on one of guest(vm name is vm2) using .iso image like DVD.
But, processing was always stopped as below stage.

* Building a new kernel using the command: "/usr/sbin/mk_kernel -f -o /stand/vmunix".
NOTE: File system cache and transaction logging could not be disabled for the '/stand' file system. The currently requested operation may take much longer time than normal to complete.
* Building a new kernel for configuration 'import.config'...

Bad access to forum tonight ;-(

First thing : I am afraid that VM2 is no longer supported. Latest version is 3.5 but you must install it with a VM Host 11.23 later or equal than December 2007.

Anyway, it should work with your configuration.

What I can see is number of virtual CPU. With HPVM 1.2, it was a very very long time to install from an ignite server with more than one vCPU. May be the same issue with ISO image ? Try to decrease to 1 vCPU before starting guest installation ...

1 GB is quiet low ... but you should be able to install. Anyway, can you increase the size just for the installation process ? How much memory on the host ?

Ho ... you have not confirm whether or not you have created iso image with a 2048 KO bloc size ?

Time to leave for me.

Eric
According to the release notes the VMHost requires some patches. Do you have them?
The release notes for version 2 are also more than a year old. I guess there are already new patches.
IMHO missing patches can be very likely the reason for problems ...
