> Any help would be highly appreciated.

You first. If you would like help from
non-psychics, then you should probably
explain more about what you did. For
example:

How are all the network interfaces
configured? IP addresses? Netmasks?
Routes?

> [...] default gateway ip.

And what is that?

netstat -an

> I m new in hp unix.

No matter how new you are, you should be able
to provide _some_ useful information when you
ask a question like this.

> -I cannot [...]

What, exactly, did you do? What, exactly,
happened when you did it? Does copy+paste
work for you?

> -It seems [...]

Why? What makes you say this?

> -I m able to connect through MP console.

From what? How? How is it configured?

> When I m trying to connect through telnet

From what to what? Actual command(s)?

> then the message arise "connection refused
> by server".

"Connection refused" normally means that
there is no server program (Telnet, or
whatever) configured on the server system.
Again, with no useful information in the
question, it's hard to offer much specific
help.

Hi Zishan,

Check to see if inetd is running:

ps -ef |grep inetd

If it is, look in /etc/inetd.conf and see if the telnet line is uncommented. If it is uncommented, then it should work. Look for lines that contain inetd in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log to see startup messages from inetd.

If inetd is not running, check the system's run level. It has to be at run level 3 for inetd:

who -r

If the machine is at run level 3, look at /sbin/init.d/inetd to see if inetd is configured to start.

If it is, search /etc/rc.log for inetd to see why it might have failed to start.
