On a k570 box running 11.0, I'm trying to use sendmail to send an order which will execute a script. I keep getting unknown mailer error 5 in the mail log. I have no problem sending mail to the box, only when trying to execute this script. It works on another box we have so I duplicated everything: permissions,aliases file, sendmail.cf & cw files. I just upgraded to version 8 sendmail and suddenly I get errors such as ``unknown mailer error 5 -- mail: options MUST PRECEDE recipients.'' What is going wrong?

You need OSTYPE(systype) in your .mc file, where "systype" is set correctly for your hardware & OS combination -- otherwise the configurations use a default that probably disagrees with your local mail system. See the configuration OSTYPE page for details.

If this is on a Sun workstation, you might also want to take a look at the local mailer flags in the Sun-supplied sendmail.cf and compare them to the local mailer flags generated for your version 8 sendmail.cf. If they differ, you might try changing the V8 flags to match the Sun flags.

Hi John,
you says you have no problem sending mail from this box (assuming from command line) I will say something is not write in script.

Is is shell script? what are the argument you are using?
