LVM disk not shown

hello,

I have hp san 4400 and i created
two vdisk one is 200 gb and another is 230 gb this vdisk in PRESENTED connected on hp ux server(UATDATA1)

This disks shown on hp ux like
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0 and
/dev/dsk/c2d1d3
so i created the lvm via SMH like
/dev/x01/vgx01 mounted on /x01 and
/dev/s01/vgs01 mounted on /s01

its all right and working fine

BUT MY DBA(user)TOLD ME DELETE THE DISK AND CREATE LARGE space DISK

SO I DELETED LVM on hp-ux(uatdata1) AND SAN VDISK

AGAIN I CREATED TWO VDISK
ONE IS 300 GB AND 0NE IS 400 GB
ITS connected on (uatadata1)

BUT WHEN I RUN COMMAND
IOSCAN -M DSF
ITS SHOWS OLDER disk
/dev/dsk/c2t1d0 and
/dev/dsk/c2d1d3

AND RUN ANOTHER COMAND

DISKINFO /DEV/DSK/C2T1D0
ITS SHOWS NOTHING on both disk

AND run SMH
THERE ALSO SHOWN DISK 0 GB SPACE

Why my new disk not shown and
why its shown 0% disk space on that particular disks

why its shown older deleted disk path and not seem new disk path.

Running 11.31?

If you delete a LUN and present another new LUN with same LUN number the server prevents access for security reasons, unless you use scsimgr with replace_wwid option (see scsimgr white paper) or a reboot of the server.

if it is possible

without restart the server and re create the vdisk different lun on SAN .

if it is .how can we that.

You can delete the old disk devices / hardware address to clear it from ioscan output.

Run the below command to rescan and make the new disk visible.

# ioscan -fnNC disk

# insf -e (reinstall missing / new device files)

# ioscan -m dsf -> check if the new luns are seen. it might not be have the same device name as the older one.

Hi,

After restarting the server disk are present

and diskinfo also shown the size of disk

but

on smh no unused disk visible.

on smh disk are not visible why?

please help me.

I assume the new LUN has the same device files like the old LUN had - did you remove everything from the old LUN before removing?

(VG definitions, etc)
