      <description>assign multiple address in the same ethernet. and the ethernet prefix are like eth{x}:{n}&lt;BR /&gt;x is ethernet device like eth0,eth1 and so on and n is number.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;eth0:1 is an alias of eth0.</description>

      <description>Hi Sham,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IP Aliasing/multiplexing allows a single system to be seen as multiple systems with multiple IP addresses and host names, even if the system has only one physical interface card. This functionality allows multiple instances of applications to appear as if they reside on separate machines.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;IP aliasing mainly used in cluster environment in order to give application portability across nodes(Application is being presented to the external world with aliased Ip and this IP will move across nodes at the time node failure)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds&lt;BR /&gt;Johnson</description>
