acl command

I am not familiar with acl and would like to know why it has been resident as one of my top resource comsumption processes? (result from top command)

I don't think I payed enough attention before, but every time I look at top, acl is taking about 95-99% of CPU processing time and don't know why. Please explain.

Although, I don't remember any process running for ACL...Do a "find / -type f -name acl", maybe it's a homegrown appl?
