Hi Anthink:

Default configuration files, as already mentioned, can be found in /usr/newconfig/rc.config.d.

Easier though to reinstall the system from an ignite backup recovery tape. I wouldn't trust myself to catch everything by copying over the defaults and then editing them by hand. To many chances of screwing things up. Some screw ups you might never catch.

Do you have any backed up ignite images on tape or ignite server to restore from? You should be taking an ignite backup after every install or software upgrade. And maybe evan have several images going back through the life of the box.

If you don't, well, this is how people get fired.

If you don't, then don't turn off the box. Right now the correct configuration is running in the kernel.

Hi
You can recover all configuration file that exists in /etc/rc.config.d folder from the location /usr/newconfig/etc/rc.config.d (don't worry)

but you need to configure those files as earlier (be worry ;-))

hi guys,

anthink havent deleted da directory. he is askin what if's "if he deletes da directory rc.config.c". so nothing to worry but micheal has said it right, its always best practice to have ignite backup of the system before you are planning any changes to the system like software installation, upgradation. just incase da activity fails you can revert back to the last successfully running system state.

Or else you all know wat is da reason for which people get fired. he he he he he h.

micheal i think ignite backup of the system shud b taken before you do any software installaton or upgradation. Right???????

>>if delete the rc.config.d directory from rp3440; then how to recovery the directory

From backup. You **ARE** backing the server up, right? I'm not talking about just Ignite/UX backups either. As those are generally just for VG00 (which /etc/rc.config.d is part of). You should also be doing other backups to back up the data that is on this server.

You should be able to recover this directory from that backup as well.

As far as Ignite backups go, I am a firm believer in those as well. I do weekly Ignite make_tape_recovery backups.
