NFS mount issue.

Hi all

Due to space constraint we are not able to install catia. So the other option is mount /catia from other HPUX machine(its j6000 11.11). While mounting the same it throws an error pertaining to NFS demon not able to start. Please look into it and let me know your suggestion. I am able to mount the NIS and data directory from other servers. But client to client mounting is not happening.

Hi Suman,

Check the file /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf, NFS_CLIENT and NFS_SERVER should be enabled.

# /sbin/init.d/nfs.server stop
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.server start

# /sbin/init.d/nfs.core stop
# /sbin/init.d/nfs.core start

And try mounting the nfs filesystem again.

Shalom Suman,

The error screen indicates probably one of the following conclusions:

1) NFS server not configured properly, /etc/exports is wrong for example. OR NFS server is not running on the server.
2) Network configuration or firewall is blocking NFS access. Thats actually becoming more common.

can u tell me the proper way of configuring the nfs server,as this issue is quite known to you.Actually whatever u people told is checked beyond that what else can be done.plz its very urgent.

As I saw the discussion in forums I have updated the patch also PHNE_32477 but still the problem is there..kindly reply me..Everthing seems alright.I have cheecked all configuration files.

We need more information concerning the problem.

1. Can you mount the same share on another machine?

2. has something similar worked previously?

3. what is the output of the following command:
ps -ef|grep nfs

4. Can you post the corresponding entries from the source (/etc/exports) and destination (/etc/fstab)

1) I have tried mounting the same share on another machine. Its not working .same error is showing.
(one year back) the same system worked with exports display. But I donâ t know who has done the mounting work at that time.

I have checked that also but starting and stoping nfs server and client,actually here both machine are clients but the server is not a hp machine.Both the servers are acting as a client.kindly give some solid solutions.

the problem is definitely located on the side where the SHARE is located. Unless, we can prove that the SHARE has been properly defined (exported), we cannot proceed further with the troubleshooting...
