Hi,
and welcome to the forums !

How are you pinging your server, by server name or ip-address ? If by servername the name may not be reliably translated by the Domain Name Server (DNS).

How have you set up your server networking.
Check /etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/hosts on server to confirm that your servername is resolved.

Please also read:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#33 on how to reward any useful answers given to your questions.
It would also help if you were to state your Operating System and Version, as well as provide other detailed information.
Also please set your subject to something that is more meaningful than just: "Somebody please help"
Hi,

try pinging the ip address assigned to your two nics; not the servername.
if it pings then see that your /etc/hosts file is configured properly.

Sunny
