Experts,
I have a L-2000 server running 11.0. there is only one user who has logged on to the system right now, but at times the response time is slow for it.
At times when you do a BDF of vi the system takes a long time, where as this doesnt happen always. I did a top to find out if any of the process is taking up most of the CPU but there seems to be none. Any ideas or suggestions?
ShivKumar,

Do you have any NFS mounts to or from your server?

Are you running EMS?

What kind of applications are on this server?

What kind of disks to you have? Any external drives?

Do you have Glance/Measureware installed? If not, you can install a TRIAL version - good for 30 days.

live free or die
harry

Hi Shiv,
You need to check the kernel parameters. Please provide the list of following.

1. kmtune output
2. swapinfo -mt
3. iostat
4. vmstat
5. top

6. Also which system you are using and what version of HP-UX.
7. swlist

We can then be able to say something.

-Piyush.

Hi Shiv,

I would suggest you to load Glance and check the system load and resource usage.

Check your syslog file for any type of errors ?

HTH,
Shiju

Hi,

If you have disk mirror configured in your system see that the LV Status is "available/syncd" using the command(for example) for logical volume 0 ,"lvdisplay /dev/vg00/lvol0 ". if it is "stale" then the disk mirroring may be happening which will slow down disk I/O.

-Vijay
